According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are back in talks with Velez Sarsfield for Argentinian midfielder Ricardo Alvarez.

Talks broke down in May as the Gunners were reluctant to match Velez Sarsfield president Fernando Raffaini's £11 million valuation of Alvarez.

The left-footed attacking midfielder's sparkling form has alerted other European sides such as Inter Milan, Roma and Sevilla. However, Arsenal are said to be front runners to secure his services.

The versatile 23 year old, who can play any where across midfield, has impressed in the 2010-2011 season for Velez Sarsfield, helping the team clinch the league title when they won the Clasuratournament.
