Evra: Nasri will be king at Man United

Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has called for wantaway Arsenal playmaker Samir Nasri to join him at Old Trafford to fulfil his potential.
Evra, who is good friends with Nasri, believes his international team-mate will only gain the full recognition he deserves when he starts winning trophies, and has recommended United as the best place possible to do so.
"I've talked a lot with him in the holidays and told him how great it is to play for Manchester United, and how important it would be for him to become one of the biggest players in the world," Evra said, according to The Sun.
"I remember I made that little joke saying that he's a prince now, but if he wants to be the king then he has to join Man United.
"But that's the reality - and I've told him that. I said, 'If you want to win trophies, you have to come here.'"
Evra revealed he has constantly stressed the importance of winning trophies to Nasri, and retains hope a move can still be completed, despite Manchester City being the favourites to land the talented French international, as well as United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's revelation that the club will not sign any more players this summer.
"In five years [at United] I've won twelve trophies and I don't know if I'd have won more than that with another club. So I just told him the truth.
"I don't know how negotiations are at the moment but he has a lot of clubs interested in him and he has to think.
"I just told him how good it would be for him coming here. He will have a nice welcome and I can help as well because I'm French.
"We've spoken a lot in the summer and also when we met up for friendly games with France at the end of the season. It was looking interesting but I don't know, we'll have to see."
For now, City still remains the likeliest destination for 24-year-old Nasri, but there remains a faint possibility he could play out the final year of his contract with Arsenal, and then leave on a free - which would allow him to join any club of his choice.
Evra believes he would have no problems having to decide between either Manchester club, and has stressed the importance of winning trophies over a huge pay-check.
"If he goes to City, it's his choice. But I know, as a player, if I have Manchester United and Manchester City, I'd go straight away for United.
"It can be for the money. But I'd prefer to go for the glory. He [Nasri] said it's a privilege a club like United want him, but he has to think about his future and talk with his agent."
In an ironic reflection to what Nasri is trying to do now at Arsenal, Evra himself tried to force a move away from United early last season, after learning about interest from Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
However, he was convinced by Ferguson to stay at Old Trafford, and has since admitted it was the right move.
"After the World Cup [in South Africa], I'd told him [Ferguson] I wanted to go.
"Sometimes you have to make a choice in your life and there was an approach from two big clubs. I just had a chat about it with the boss.
"Sometimes you want to try something different. For family reasons perhaps there was a choice to move.
"In the end I made the right choice and I'm so happy to still be a Man United player."
With Ferguson having asserted that United would be making no more signings in the current transfer window, David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young look likely to be the only arrivals at Old Trafford this summer.
