Arsenal and England striker Theo Walcott believes the one that just ended was his best season for the Gunners.
Speaking to the FA website, the 22-year old explained that the team did not perform as they wanted but on a personal level he scored more goals and produced more assists. Believing that the players are to be blamed for ending another season with no trophies, the youngster added that next season could indeed be the one for the Gunners.
Asked about injuries, Walcott confessed he suffered a lot in his career but explained that he is now in a position that allows him to deal better with injuries as they are no longer affecting him as they used to do in the past.
And ahead of a busy summer, the striker concluded by saying that it will be interesting to see who leaves Arsenal and who joins saying that whoever will be in the squad when the season starts will be ready to finally bring a trophy to the Emirates.
On his season, Walcott said:
I had the best season I’ve had in a long time. I have scored a lot of goals and got more assists.
As a team we weren’t able to perform to our abilities in the last few games. We should have got third but it was just snatched away from us.
We have only got ourselves to blame on that front. We have to win trophies but there have been signs there, and I think we can do it next season.
Injuries are part and parcel of the game and I have had a lot in my career but it’s how you bounce back from them.
I am more able to deal with those situations now. It was not as bad as it could have been didn’t affect me too much.
It will be massive to see the players who come in and the ones who go out. We will be ready. We have to show people and our fans especially that we want to win things.
You have to do that a big club like Arsenal. It has been a long time since we won anything and we know how disappointing that is for the fans.
