Newcastle United hope to complete the signing of midfielder Yohan Cabaye from Lille this weekend. 

The 25-year-old France international will cost £4.3million and is one of Alan Pardew's main summer targets. 

Newcastle are also looking to take Chicago Fire and Guatemala midfielder Marco Pappa on trial next season.

Meanwhile, the Magpies and Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Ipswich left back Joe Whight. 

The 17-year-old, who is expected to make his debut for Paul Jewell's side at the start of next season having featured in several squads, has been watched several times by both clubs.
