His average rating may not say so but I consider Jack Wilshere as our best player, this season. The reason why other players have a better average rating is because – as he also admitted – his form dropped in the last part of the season due to fatigue, reason why he then pulled out of the Under 21s.
Why young Jack was so tired last month is not hard to understand. He featured against Ipswich Town and Leyton Orient because those on the bench were not capable of doing the job and in-between he also featured for the English National side.
As I said not long ago, give me eleven “Jack Wilsheres” any day, he loves the Club, loves the jersey, fights from start to finish and above all, he wants to add trophies to his CV.

His first part of the season was top-class, an average rating of 7.1 in his first 22 games, believe me, that’s impressive. But, like almost all other players in the squad, his form dropped after we lost the League Cup Final and he is now involved in a “battle” with the Club to make his piggy bank get fatter.
I must confess I don’t like this attitude, let’s not forget the first part of this season was the first time he performed at a high level since he joined Arsenal, not enough, in my opinion, to issue a “pay me or I’ll leave” ultimatum.

Here is one player almost everyone wants to sell and I’m afraid I cannot defend him anymore. I understand injuries were a major factor in his career but he’s not a kid anymore, he’s 25, and if he can only play 18 games in a season and gets sent off in one of them because of past memories, I’m afraid he indeed has to be shipped out.

Very poor season for Andrey. Granted, he may have produced important assists but to use his own words, “One good game in four months is not enough”.
He is an honest man, Andrey, and I admire him for that as I’m more than sure he knows his season was not good enough and will hopefully work hard, during the summer, to be in a better shape next season.

Of all the players from the “B Squad” who disappointed big time, Tomas is the one who annoyed me the most. We complain about the lack of experience in the squad yet when we go out there with a 30-year old who should know what it means to win and lose, he fails miserably.
Way too many games in which I rated him 5.5 or less, including the horrible, horrible games against Newcastle, Birmingham City and Barcelona, away from home.

Hot and cold, from Alex and I’m afraid his average rating reflects his performance. I expect more from Alex next season, he is to be more consistent and like Andrey he knows where he lacked as he said two weeks ago that it’s no use doing well against Manchester United only to then go back to square one against Bolton.

Never disappoints the captain. He didn’t play a lot of games so getting a high average rating is not hard but just look at that, so many 7s, some 8s and a 9.
Make no mistake, he had bad moments out there, such as the foolish backheel outside the penalty box against Barcelona and the inexplicably raised arm against Tottenham Hotspur but let’s not forget games like Leeds in the F.A. Cup when he came on from the bench and showed why he still is, one of the most important elements of the squad.

No, this is not the lowest average rating of the season, Manuel Almunia’s is, but indeed, the Brasilian was yet again shocking. To be fair, I cannot understand why people – this season – saw things that I saw years ago, like the way he lets the opposition surge past him without any interest in blocking them or all the times he gives the ball away in dangerous areas.

His “5.5″ doesn’t reflect his season of course. Back from injury, Aaron struggled to enjoy time on the pitch, even when loaned out, but the game against Manchester United showed that one day the Welshman can be special in our midfield.
Is he there yet? No, not really, recovering from such a horrible injury requires time, but he’s only 20, and if he stays fit next season and plays at least 30 games, it could indeed be a start.
