HAS GREED TAKEN HOLD AT ARSENAL OR SOMETHING ELSE?

Few Arsenal fans would disagree that Samir Nasri is a very important player and not one that Arsenal will want to lose – especially if Fabregas departs in the summer. However, there is a real danger of this happening, after problems with the contract offer Arsenal have made to the Frenchman. The stumbling block seems to be a pure financial one and is about the fact that Nasri wants to match the £110,000 per week wages that Fabregas receives. The offer that has been made is generous to say the least; a five year deal with wages of £90,000 per week. Arsenal will be forced to sell this summer if Nasri refuses to sign, because they don’t wish to risk losing him for nothing at the end of next season.
One wonders if perhaps Nasri’s head has been turned by comments that were recently made byManchester United defender Patrice Evra . Evra suggested that Nasri should move to Manchester United in order to win the trophies he obviously desires. But as far as Arsene Wenger is concerned this dispute is a financial one. Wenger told French radio “We have a financial disagreement which hasn’t yet been settled. We are still in discussions but we haven’t agreed a deal.”
